'The Spy Who Dumped Me' Is The Most Fun You'll Have Watching A Movie At Home

When film critics use the description "the most fun you'll have at the movies all year!" it's like, you don't know my life. You also don't know the crowd in the movie theater, the freshness of the popcorn, the amount of reclining the seats will allow. There are a lot of factors to consider. So instead, if you want to have the most fun you'll have watching a movie at home all year, where the factors are much more controllable and the dress code is much looser, the perfect movie awaits you. The Spy Who Dumped Me, the Mila Kunis/Kate McKinnon action comedy you likely missed in theaters over the summer is now available on VOD and will prove to be an incredibly satisfying weekend rental.

Kunis and McKinnon are the no-brainer dream team only true trolls could ever dislike. Their on-screen friendship as Audrey and Morgan is nothing less than #friendshipgoals, and the way they both bounce off of each other and deeply care for one another is what makes this movie as great as it is. After Audrey finds out her boyfriend (Justin Theroux) might not be who she thinks he is, it lands the two gals on a European mission that will have you searching for flights overseas. But, you know, hopefully not to discover the truth about your boyfriend, or because you've found yourself in the middle of government operations. Just for fun with your friend.

And of course these two are a great pairing. McKinnon is an actual Comedy Queen, and unlike other film roles she's held before, where she was given perfectly timed quips, she's front and center now, carrying the movie through not just funny lines of dialogue, not to mention their delivery, but outrageous physical comedy stunts as well. For real, her talent knows no bounds. Matching her with Kunis is the kind of magic only Hollywood producers could deliver. Here, Kunis is as reliable as ever, so much so that if you weren't too busy laughing, you'd be pretty freakin' jealous at how good she continues to be.

For those that are unfamiliar with Outlander on Starz, Sam Heughan steps in as a hunky agent, unafraid to show off his comedic chops as well. This movie will likely open him up to both a whole new slew of fans and roles, likely especially in the action world. And if he can keep it in the modern era, even better. Clearly this guy can rock a suit even better than he can one of those frilly shirts from Outlander. His performance here is a surprising delight, topped only by that of fellow agent, Hasan Minhaj. With his new show Patriot Act on Netflix, we know him to be a charming, enthusiastic storyteller. In The Spy Who Dumped Me, he's a total dick. But you know what, he's great at that too. If he's not busy enough as it is, he should find the time to fit in more comedic film roles into his schedule. We'd all benefit from it.

The Spy Who Dumped Me may have gotten a bit lost among the summer blockbusters, but be sure to find it now that you can watch it at home. While the ladies' friendship is the true star here, the action scenes are plenty exciting and expertly directed by Susanna Fogel. And, as a real added bonus, they manage to fit a ton of humor in as well. It's not a movie you'll fall asleep watching, that's for sure. But it is the perfect kind to enjoy with a big bowl of popcorn, and an even bigger glass of wine, when you're simply looking for a good time. Because obviously Mila and Kate know how to deliver on that.
