Wrapping Up Our New Home Construction {Part 1}
I'one thousand and then fortunate to be married to someone that is so talented in new home construction. We've been married for v years {together for 15}, and we've never congenital a home to phone call "ours." We've always built a spec home, moved in, and moved out as soon as someone bought information technology. And so to motility in to a home that doesn't take a "For Sale," sign in the yard… well… I merely don't know what that volition feel like!
Babe #2 is due whatsoever day, and we are downwardly to the wire on this house. Usually, I wouldn't intendance so much well-nigh how shortly a house tin be completed, but all of our infant items are in "storage," waiting for this house to be completed. Eeeek… baby bottles, baby clothes, baby EVERYTHING! And then… needless to say if this infant arrives before the business firm is move-in ready, we will be making a trip to Wal-Mart and Target, to bring baby home.
So why am I posting about ournew abode construction? Well, I've never felt like decorating a dwelling house, because I knew the minute I put something on the wall, I'd be forced to take it down. So I'm super anxious to make it our home, and brainstorm decorating! I want to include you all in on the procedure, considering while I'll beloved decorating and organizing, I'll probably accept a lot of questions and want your opinions! {Hey… I've never done this before, retrieve?} So here's a peek and "Part 1" of our New Home Construction process. Follow along to come across the progress and babe drama along the way! 🙂
Let's beginning exterior:
Front Side Walk
We decided to add together a trivial "pizzazz" to our sidewalks and driveway. Nosotros selected a "Cobblestone" blueprint with a tan underlay and dark dark-brown overlay. {Are those even concrete terms? Yeah, I don't know… I'm not in the structure business concern, simply it sounds good to me! Lol} Information technology looks like a "red" right now, but it will have the brown tones when the "stain" is applied.
We are besides staining the front door a dark brown, that should match the rest of the outdoor finishes.
Side Entry Side Walk
We take this sidewalk, leading from the driveway to our front door. Again, we kept the cobblestone pattern, and information technology will be stained the same colors as the other!
Driveway Border
I'm so anxious to run into the driveway complete. What y'all see above are the "borders" of the driveway. In the gravel areas, concrete will exist poured, and in the finished project, you'll see strips of night brown cobblestone. I tin't WAIT to see how information technology turns out!
Dining Room Cabinets & Buffet Station
Ok, and then nosotros're gonna peek at the inside a bit.
When we picked a house program, the plan showed a dining room, and immediately said to my husband, "Honey, don't you think a dining room is a waste of space?" He agreed. But nearly 2 months in to the building process, I began thinking that mayhap it wouldn't be such a waste of infinite. If we blocked off that room by adding walls, making information technology a bedroom or an office, it would drastically take away from the open floor program that it had. So we decided to exit it a dining room, and now I'm ecstatic that nosotros did! I started picturing family gatherings at my firm, with an eight-person dining room table, and a wall of cabinets with a buffet serving station. If you know me, y'all know I LOVE to entertain, and so I kind of made the dining room my trivial splurge. My husband picked out all of the finishes of the house {it's what he does for a living, and he'due south good at it}, and so all I said was, "Honey, you lot know I don't care what the business firm looks like, but I'd really honey some cabinets with a buffet station in the dining room, and I'll be over the moon!" Well he totally came through! You tin see in the pic the base of operations cabinets accept been installed, and the granite countertops & in a higher place cabinets/bookshelves should be added this week!
Now… if I could simply get the floors clean to run across what that hardwood really looks like! 😉
Stone Fireplace
In our family unit room, we accept a fireplace in the corner, where our TV volition hang, and my husband decided on a "stone" surround. I'chiliad so glad, because it'south looking great!
Yeah, that'southward all for today. I take the moving visitor scheduled for the end of this week, so let's promise Part 2 of this mail, is a picture of my family continuing in front of the forepart door, moving in! 😉
